Russia will tighten control over cash withdrawals
Source: OREANDA-NEWS
OREANDA-NEWS Next year, a new form of reporting on cash withdrawal operations may appear in Russia. The relevant bill has been published on the Central Bank's website.
We are talking about transactions carried out without the voluntary consent of the client, that is, taking into account cases when formal consent was obtained through deception or abuse of trust.
It is proposed to make reports mandatory once a quarter for all credit institutions — these are banks, settlement and payment companies that issue bank cards and electronic wallets.
The documents must contain information about fraudulent transactions in which the bank did not block the disbursement of money, but later received a notification from the client about the withdrawal of funds without his consent.
The report will also include information about attempts to withdraw money that were blocked due to signs of fraud. If they are detected, the bank is obliged to notify the client and limit withdrawals to 50 thousand rubles per day for 48 hours. Credit institutions will have to report how many customers have confirmed the fraud.
Earlier it was reported that Russian banks began blocking the withdrawal of large amounts of cash through an ATM. After that, the client receives a call asking them to confirm the action. If the confirmation is received, he is asked to wait five minutes and repeat the request.
