OREANDA-NEWS Annual inflation in Russia slowed from May 27 to June 2 to 9.66 percent. This was announced by the Ministry of Economic Development (MAYOR).

Weekly inflation was 0.05 percent. The decline in prices for fruit and vegetable products has accelerated. Onions (minus 1.7 percent) and pasta (minus 0.1 percent) fell in price. The cost of cucumbers continued to decrease (minus 4.7 percent) and tomatoes (minus 4.3 percent). In addition, the reduction in the cost of bananas accelerated (to minus 1.9 percent). Sugar fell by 0.3 percent.

Also, according to the ministry, the increase in bread prices has slowed down and the rate of increase in prices of beef, pork and chicken has decreased.

Earlier, economist Alexander Timofeev predicted that confectionery would rise in price in Russia in early summer. The reasons for this trend will be palm oil, increased export duties on Russian vegetable oil, as well as new requirements for the food industry.
