Another country wanted to switch to the euro

OREANDA-NEWS Hungary's future Prime Minister Peter Magyar has spoken about whether his country will switch to the euro. The policy was quoted by Bloomberg.
According to him, the transition to the European currency meets the interests of Hungary. However, he admitted that he could not name a specific date for the transition. As Magyar explained, his government will determine the timing of joining the eurozone after analyzing the state of the economy.
In this regard, the agency recalled that the future prime minister's willingness to take such steps differs sharply from the position of the defeated Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Last fall, Orban said that Hungary would not abandon its currency and switch to the euro, as the EU was in a situation of disintegration. Therefore, Budapest should not link its fate with Brussels more closely than it does now.
In 2026, Bulgaria abandoned the LEV and became the 21st country to join the eurozone.
