OREANDA-NEWS  Following the results of trading on the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange on Tuesday, August 26, the cost of gasoline dropped sharply. This dynamic has been observed for the third consecutive session, according to the site's data.

The price of the Ai-92 brand dropped to 68,548 rubles per ton, which was the lowest since August 7, and the Ai-95 brand dropped to 77,721 rubles (minimum since August 4). In the regions of the Urals and Siberia, as well as Siberia and the Far East, a similar trend is observed, that is, a drop of more than one percent every day.

The rapid rise in prices stopped after it became known on August 22 about a regular meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak with the participation of the heads of oil companies.

According to media reports, oil companies promised to increase production in September by completing repairs at a number of refineries, resulting in a fuel surplus. In particular, gasoline production will begin on September 7 at the gas processing plant in Astrakhan.

In turn, the government confirmed plans to extend a complete export ban to September, as well as to change the parameters of the damper in favor of oil companies.

The current format of the mechanism provides for depriving manufacturers of compensation if stock prices deviate from the indicative by 10 percent for gasoline and 20 percent for diesel fuel. The authorities agreed to raise the standards to 15 and 25 percent, which will allow companies to be less afraid of possible losses.

Earlier, the media and officials reported that problems with the availability of gasoline for the population arose in five regions — the Crimea, the Zaporozhye and Sakhalin regions, the Trans-Baikal and Primorsky Territories.
