OREANDA-NEWS  The ban on mining cryptocurrencies in the regions of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory, which is currently valid only in winter, will soon be made year-round, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation told RIA Novosti.

"The seasonal ban (only for the winter period) applies to the southern parts of the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory. Taking into account the decisions recently taken at the government commission for the development of the electric power industry, this ban will also be adjusted for year-round use in the near future," the press service of the department reported.

The ban on mining in 13 regions of the country was introduced by the government of the Russian Federation to stabilize the operation of the energy system. The restriction also affected the equipment of miners with a total capacity of about 550 MW. These measures have already made it possible to reduce the load on the Siberian energy system by 320 MW and avoid rolling blackouts during peak winter loads, the ministry added.
