The "white T-shirt index" was applied in Russian retail

OREANDA-NEWS The T-shirt Index purchasing power assessment tool was used in the Russian market, the NF Group said.
"The index is based on the cost of basic white T-shirts in the largest Russian clothing retailers. According to the preliminary results of 2025, the "T-shirt index" in offline retail is 1,528 rubles," the company said.
This indicator, calculated taking into account the number of outlets of each brand and the presence of different price segments, reflects the real price of the product that most buyers face. The dynamics of the "T-shirt index" will serve as an indicator reflecting the impact of various economic processes on the market.
The study analyzed the price offer of a basic white T-shirt in offline and online stores of 19 key brands in Russia.
In the mass-market segment, the cost of basic T-shirts varies in the range of 399-1, 799 rubles. Brands from the middle segment include positions on T-shirts in the range of 1399-5690 rubles, and from the middle "+" - 3499-5999 rubles.
The study revealed that the more widely the network is represented, the more affordable it is, and vice versa.
A comparison across various sales channels showed that the average price in online stores (1,624 rubles) was almost on par with the weighted average offline price (1,528 rubles). At the same time, only eight of the 19 brands adhere to a single pricing policy in all sales channels.
A significant price gap is fixed on marketplaces. The average cost of a basic white T-shirt here was 626 rubles, which is more than half the market average. Only two of the 19 brands were able to offer lower prices to online platforms.
