Two people were convicted in Britain for money laundering in Ukraine

OREANDA-NEWS A British court has sentenced two people to six and a half years in prison for using the Ukrainian conflict to launder funds in the amount of more than six million pounds (about 7.6 million US dollars), according to the London police.
According to police, 52-year-old Valery Popovich, his wife Oksana and 43-year-old Vitaly Lutsak participated in this scheme. With the help of funds obtained through criminal means, they bought trucks in the UK and sold them to Ukraine, and the proceeds were then transferred to cryptocurrency. The press release does not specify exactly how the criminals received the funds. Valery Popovich and Vitaly Lutsak were sentenced by the court to six years and six months in prison, and Popovich's wife Oksana will appear in court in May.
"Two people were sentenced to a total of 13 years in prison for laundering more than six million pounds ... the (Criminal - ed.) group used illegally obtained funds to purchase vans and trucks in the UK and sold them to Ukraine," reads a press release on the agency's website.
