OREANDA-NEWS. Defender of the Riga hockey club «Dynamo» Jordan Murray lost his place in the team due to the fact, that he stole a stick belonging to the forward of the Omsk «Avangard» Ilya Kovalchuk. According to «Match TV», on January 27, the day of the game against «Avangard» in Riga, Murray entered the locker room of the Omsk team and stole the stick of the Olympic champion.

It is reported, that the thief was identified by surveillance cameras. According to the records, Murray initially wanted to hide the ice hockey stick in the arena, but eventually took it out of the building. Later, the inventory was returned to the owner.

28-year-old Murray, who played in the clubs of the American Hockey League (AHL), became a «Dynamo» player in 2020. As a member of the Riga club, he played 11 matches, scoring 7 (1+6 on the «goal+pass» system) points. 37-year-old Kovalchuk moved to the «Avangard» from «Washington» in December 2020. He is the 2018 Olympic champion, two-time world champion (2008, 2009), and two-time SKA Gagarin Cup winner (2015, 2017).
