OREANDA-NEWS The seventh European country joined the boycott of matches with the Russian national team at the 2027 World Ice Hockey Championship. This is reported by VOL.AT .
Alexander Hellwig, Managing Director of the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation, said it was unacceptable to play against the Russians. "At the moment, we will not play against Russia in any case. However, the situation may still change before May," he added.
On Wednesday, November 4, Maxim Sushinsky, a former player of the Russian national team, commented on the decision of European countries to boycott matches with Russians. "Morons. What else can you relate it to?" — he noted.
Earlier it became known that six European countries — Denmark, Latvia, Norway, Finland, Sweden and the Czech Republic — announced that their national teams would boycott a possible match with the Russian team at the 2027 World Cup, which will be held in Germany. In addition, in the Finnish cities of Tampere and Turku, they threatened to refuse to host the 2028 Hockey World Youth Championship if the Russians were allowed in. Under similar conditions, Germany is ready to abandon the 2027 Adult World Cup.
