OREANDA-NEWS. Over the past few years, beauty treatments have been growing among girls and women of different age categories, including eyelash extensions.  British ophthalmologist Elizabeth Hawks believes that such manipulation can be fraught with danger, in particular, cause the development of eye infections.

Among the most common diseases caused by the buildup is blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids).  According to the doctor, this is due to the accumulation of bacteria on artificial eyelashes.

Hawks also recalled that eyelashes are primarily designed to protect the eyes from dust and germs, and are also extremely important for maintaining vision: abuse of beauty treatments can lead to irreversible loss of eyelashes.
