OREANDA-NEWS. Vice President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Michele Uva told in which case the continental championship of 2020 can be postponed or canceled.

Commenting on the situation with the spread of the new coronavirus in Europe in an interview with Rai Radio 1 Sport, he noted that UEFA is observing the development of events. “Football should adapt to the situation in the country. We try not to stop the tournaments. Competitions will be interrupted if the situation worsens,” Uva said.

The European championship of 2020 is scheduled for the period from June 12 to July 12. For the first time in history, matches of the final part of the tournament were planned to be played in 12 cities of 11 states: Rome (Italy), Baku (Azerbaijan), Saint Petersburg (Russia), Copenhagen (Denmark), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Bucharest (Romania), London (England), Glasgow (Scotland), Bilbao (Spain), Dublin (Ireland), Munich (Germany), and Budapest (Hungary).
