OREANDA-NEWS The captain of the Russian handball team, Daniil Shishkarev, spoke about the earnings of handball players.

"The best players of the Russian championship earn from 600 thousand to one million rubles a month. But in my opinion, there are about ten of them," Shishkarev said. He also compared the salaries of handball players in Russia and Europe. "If we are talking about the best players in top European clubs, then their salaries are disproportionately higher compared to the best handball players in the Russian Super League. I think their salaries are ten times higher," said the captain of the Russian national team and CSKA Moscow.

The 35-year-old athlete also shared his opinion on the earnings of young handball players. "The situation is similar to Russian football — our handball players receive very good money for their age, not the same, of course, as in football, but more than young handball players in Europe. They are paid very little there, so everyone who can, from the age of 18-19, all strive to go to the Bundesliga to show themselves and only then get a good contract," Shishkarev said.

Shishkarev is a two—time winner of the handball Champions League with the Macedonian Vardar, he was awarded the medal "For Services to Macedonia". The athlete is also a bronze medalist of the World Club Championship and a six-time champion of Russia.

In September, Russian football player Alexei Gorodovoy complained about his salary at the Norwegian club Kongsvinger. He admitted that he received about 90 thousand rubles after taxes — as a cashier at a local store. "I don't want to devalue anyone, but I can sit at the cash register if I get some training. But the cashier will not be able to play football at a high level," said the Policeman.
