OREANDA-NEWS  Russian tennis player Elina Avanesyan lost to Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk in the third round of the Australian Open. 

The meeting took place on Friday, January 19, and lasted three sets. The representative of Ukraine prevailed with the score 2:6, 6:4, 6:4. The competitors spent 2 hours and 32 minutes on the court.

Avanesyan, who reached the third round of the Australian Open for the first time in her career, is in 74th place in the ranking of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Kostyuk is the 37th racket of the world.

In the fourth round, the Ukrainian will face the winner of the confrontation between Russian Maria Timofeeva and Brazilian Beatrice Haddad-Maya.
