OREANDA-NEWS. Figure skater Katarina Gerboldt commented on the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) to remove Russians from competitions under the auspices of the organization. She noted that the world of figure skating will suffer losses, as everyone will understand that the winners of the tournaments win in an inferior competition.

“Everyone says that sport is out of politics, but we see the opposite. I don’t know what it will be like for everyone else to compete with the weakest. It always seemed to me that it was interesting to beat the strongest, and knowing that you beat the worst - I don’t know what it will be for them? They will always be reminded that if there were Russians, they would win. And what will it be like for them to become champions, but at the same time be under-champions? Well, it probably suits them,” Gerboldt told Gazeta.Ru.

Under the ISU sanctions, representatives of Russia, among other things, will not be able to take part in the World Championship, which is to be held on March 21-27 in Montpellier, France. The next Russian tournament was supposed to be the Channel One Cup, but it was postponed from March 6-7 for an indefinite period.
