OREANDA-NEWS  Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin refused the world middleweight title according to the World Boxing Association (WBA Super). This is reported on the organization's Twitter.

"Golovkin has officially renounced his championship title and will not participate in the mandatory bout scheduled by the WBA," the organization said in a statement. It is noted that the new holder of the title was Cuban Erislandi Lara.

Golovkin became the WBA champion in April 2022. Then he defeated the Japanese Ryota Murata. The match ended with a technical knockout in the ninth round.

The 40-year—old Golovkin has 42 wins (37 of which were by knockout), two defeats and one draw. In February, he also relinquished the World Boxing Federation (IBF) world title.
