OREANDA-NEWS. A Greek court has announced a verdict in the case of Harry Maguire, a player of the English football club Manchester United, who waged a fight with police officers on the island of Mykonos.

BBC reports that the 27-year-old Red Devils captain was found guilty of all charges imputed to him: assault, insult, assault on a police officer and attempted bribery of an official. The court sentenced Maguire to 21 months and 10 days of imprisonment on probation.

The footballer disagreed with the court’s decision; it is known that he intends to appeal the verdict. “I remain strong and confident regarding our innocence in this matter – if anything myself, family and friends are the victims,” Maguire stated.

Earlier it was reported that Maguire was arrested in Greece for attacking police after a fight near a bar. He was allegedly spotted by the police in an altercation with other Englishmen. When law enforcement officers intervened in the conflict, three Britons resisted and tried to bribe them. They all were detained.
