OREANDA-NEWS  Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi has suspended playing for the club indefinitely after the death of his father, Jorge Messi. This is reported by DobleAmarilla.

The Argentine remains in his homeland to support his loved ones. The time frame for returning to the United States has not been determined. Jorge Messi died at the age of 68 in Rosario Hospital on August 7 after a long illness.

Because of the funeral, Messi missed the League Cup match against Monterrey, Mexico. Inter Miami lost at home with a score of 1:2. The only goal for the hosts was scored in the 32nd minute by Rodrigo De Paul, who dedicated the ball to the captain of the Argentine national team.

Earlier, journalist Fran Casaretto reported that Messi intends to sue Argentine journalists who distributed photos and videos from a private funeral.
