OREANDA-NEWS. Postponing the awarding of athletes due to the fact that the results of doping tests have not yet come is legally illegal. Why so, explained "360" the head of the commission of the Association of Lawyers of Russia on sports law Sergey Viktorovich Alekseev.

“The generally accepted doping control procedure is as follows: if the test was carried out before the start of the competition, then there is a certain time for its analysis in the doping laboratory. The result of the test is official information, but so far it is not available, it is premature to talk about any violations. There are no grounds for canceling or suspending awards, if there is no official information about any violations, ”the lawyer said.

Alekseev clarified that, according to the rules, awards are held, and if violations are revealed after, then we can talk about the proceedings, the results of which can make any decisions, including sanctions, if the guilt of the athletes is proven.

The expert noted that the award could be postponed due to the fact that sports law is not so tough and often it can be influenced by event organizers. Therefore, the issue can be clarified for a long time at different authorities for reinsurance, which delays the celebration itself.

Alekseev also stressed that at the moment there was no negative official information about Russian athletes, and recalled that even if violations are revealed, this will not yet be the fact of the athlete's fault - it will still need to be proven through an investigation.

“And only after the end of the investigation can some punitive decision be made,” he stated.

Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova did not believe that any of the Russian athletes could have committed such a violation.

"I do not believe. But the leadership of the team will find a solution, ”she commented on the situation.
