OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Daniil Medvedev has improved his position in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). The updated rating is available on the organization's website.

The domestic athlete rose from the sixth to the fifth place of the list. He has 4330 points in the asset and remains the first racket of Russia. The leader of the rating was Spaniard Carlos Alcatraz with 7420 points, who displaced Serbian Novak Djokovic from this position (7160 points), who missed the tournament due to a ban on entry to the United States for unvaccinated citizens.

Earlier, 27-year-old Medvedev lost to 19-year-old Alcaraz in the final of the ATP Masters series tournament in Indian Wells. The match ended with a score of 6:3, 6:2 in favor of the new first racket of the world.

In 2022, Medvedev led the ATP rankings for 16 weeks with a break. He set a record among Russian athletes for this indicator.
