OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Robert Schwartzman will become the reserve driver of Ferrari. This is reported by Motorsport.it .

The 23-year-old Schwartzman will replace another reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi in four stages. The Italian will miss these competitions, because in parallel he will compete in the FIA WEC endurance races.

Schwartzman, who has an Israeli racing license, made his Formula 1 debut in October 2022. He took part in the first session of the free races of the US Grand Prix stage as a test pilot. The Russian showed the 16th result, 2.094 seconds behind the leader, Spaniard Carlos Sainz, also representing Ferrari.

Previously, the Russian played for the Prema team, as part of which he won the Formula 3 championship in 2019. He also took second place at the end of the Formula 2 season in 2021.

The International Motorsport Federation (FIA) did not completely ban Russians from competitions under its auspices. Domestic athletes continue to perform at tournaments under a neutral flag.
