OREANDA-NEWS. Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen was detained for fighting at a hotel. This was reported by TMZ Sports.

"It has come to light that former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen of the league has been detained by police on charges of battery. According to reports, Sonnen was involved in a fight at a Las Vegas hotel,"- the report said.

A witness reported that the former MMA fighter was knocking on the door of a Four Seasons hotel room Saturday night, after which he got into an argument with a couple walking by. Sonnen got into a fight with the man, and the woman began screaming loudly, and someone who witnessed it called the police.

The cops detained Sonnen, but would not arrest the ex-fighter because they did not see the incident in person. Sonnen is facing five charges because of the fight - police are still investigating what happened.

Sonnen was a contender for the UFC middleweight and bantamweight titles. In the professional ring, he had 31 wins, 17 losses and one draw.

In 2017-2019, Sonnen competed at Bellator. In 2018, he lost to Fedor Emelianenko in the first round at Bellator 208, and in his last fight on June 14, 2019, he suffered a technical knockout loss to Japanese-Brazilian fighter Lyoto Machida.
