OREANDA-NEWS  A powerful aftershock after a strong earthquake occurred in Kamchatka. This is reported by the press service of the Kamchatka branch of the FITC YGS RAS in its Telegram channel.

The tremors were recorded on Friday, August 1, at 13:16 local time (4:16 Moscow time). The magnitude of the tremors reached 5.6 — usually seismologists call it a powerful earthquake.

The epicenter of the event was located 204 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The source, according to experts, lay at a depth of 38.7 kilometers. This aftershock was followed by several less powerful ones — their magnitudes reached 4.3 and 4.8.

The most powerful earthquake since 1952 occurred on Wednesday, July 30. The magnitude of the tremors reached 8.8. The earthquake was followed by four tsunami waves. As a result, electrical wiring was damaged in the Russian regions, several buildings were destroyed and flooded.
