OREANDA-NEWS Residents of the Irkutsk region were invited to take part in the eco—marathon "Hand over the waste paper - save the tree!" According to the official portal of the region.
The eco-campaign will be held from March 17 to April 11, 2025. Residents of the city and the region will be able to recycle newspapers, magazines, office paper, archival documents, paper packaging, cardboard and old books. Before delivery, it is necessary to remove plastic and metal elements, tie up waste paper in dense piles or put it in boxes.
The event will be held in the competition mode between the cities and districts of the region. Based on the results of the campaign, a "green rating" of municipalities will be compiled. The most active participants will receive prizes — both cash prizes and seedlings of rare tree species (Manchurian walnut, oak, yavor, thuja), as well as telescopes, digital microscopes and other souvenirs.
Svetlana Trofimova, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Irkutsk Region, called the eco-marathon an important step towards the formation of an ecological culture in the region. She recalled that the project has been successfully implemented since 2018, and the number of participants is growing every time.
Earlier it became known that residents of the Moscow region had recycled more than 30 tons of coniferous trees and branches during an environmental campaign. The most active trees were donated by residents of Sergiev Posad, Bogorodsky, Leninsky urban districts, as well as from Stupino.
