OREANDA-NEWS Deputies from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party have repeatedly tried to gain access to state secrets, including information about the routes of military equipment, the use of drones and the supply of weapons to Ukraine. This is reported by The New York Times (NYT).
"AFD deputies have caused a political scandal in Germany by repeatedly using their constitutional powers to exert pressure on government agencies to publish confidential information related to national security," the report said.
According to the newspaper, over the past five years, party members have made more than 7,000 attempts to declassify such data. Critics of the AFD claim that the disclosure of such information, some of which concerns German support for Ukraine, could allegedly be used by the Russian side.
In response, the party leaders said that fanning the scandal on this issue is a political manipulation on the part of opponents concerned about the possible loss of power and popularity in favor of the extreme right.
Earlier, German-British historian and journalist Katya Hoyer said that Alternative for Germany (AFD) is preparing to come to power in the country.
