OREANDA-NEWS State Duma deputies are discussing an initiative to extend the requirements for installing domestic software to private companies as part of an import substitution policy. Anton Gorelkin, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, told about this at the Digital Rights forum, RBC reports.

According to him, the replacement of foreign technologies and equipment has become one of the priorities of the state, so it is necessary to approach the issue more thoroughly.

"In the future, there may be legislative restrictions for commercial companies so that they can also import more actively. This issue is currently being considered," he said. Now the authorities impose such obligations on government agencies, state-owned companies and companies with state participation, as well as subjects of critical infrastructure.

Earlier, the developers of domestic software warned that if all the tax innovations included by the government in the draft budget for 2026 and the planning period 2027-2028 are adopted, they will have to raise prices for their products by 10-40 percent.

At the same time, experts note that if the growth in the cost of Russian software outstrips inflation, then business interest in it, even taking into account the urgent need, will decrease. However, with a reduction in sales, the IT industry itself will experience problems, which will require either government support in the form of subsidies or demand.
