In Russia, doctors will be lured to rural areas with 300 million rubles

OREANDA-NEWS The Russian government will allocate more than 300 million rubles for the “Zemsky Doctor” and “Zemsky Paramedic” programs, under which they are trying to attract medical professionals to move to rural areas. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced this at a meeting with deputy prime ministers.
He specified that the regions themselves will allocate about another 140 million rubles. It is expected that this funding will help to interest about 500 medical professionals in moving from cities.
Doctors, paramedics, nurses, and midwives participating in programs that have been extended until 2020 receive one‑time payments ranging from 500,000 to 2,000,000 rubles, depending on their level of education and the specific region where they are employed..
The recipients of the additional funds will be Adygea, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Khakassia, the Krasnodar, Perm, and Primorsky Territories, the Astrakhan, Bryansk, Volgograd, Kirov, Leningrad, Ryazan, Saratov, Smolensk, and Yaroslavl Oblasts, as well as the Jewish Autonomous Region and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
