OREANDA-NEWS The price of bitcoin dropped below $ 77,000 after reports of security issues on the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance, according to trading data.

As of 03:31, the cost decreased by 4.23 percent per day, reaching 76,953 dollars.

Earlier on Friday night, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao announced the hacking of the platform. According to him, the incident may be related to the compromise of the laptop of a development engineer.

Nevertheless, Zhao claims that users' funds are safe, and there are no signs of wallet keys being leaked. The exchange has suspended all operations for depositing and withdrawing money.

The total damage from the hack amounted to about 6.3 billion dollars.
