OREANDA-NEWS The operation of the Express-AM5 satellite, which is designed, among other things, to transmit data for broadcasting, mobile communications, telephony and multimedia, was limited due to the failure of the thermal control system circuit. This is stated in the message of the company "Space Communications", reports TASS.

"On June 3, 2023, at 04:30 Moscow time, the liquid cooling circuit of the thermal control system of the Express-AM5 spacecraft (hereinafter referred to as the SPACECRAFT) failed, which led to exceeding the threshold thermal operating modes of the spacecraft," the message says.

The company clarified that together with the company "ISS named after M.F. Reshetnev", which created the device, measures were taken to avoid overheating of the satellite and preserve its operability. "In accordance with the operational documentation and recommendations of the chief designer of Reshetnev JSC, part of the transponders was turned off," the Space Communications company said. It is noted that after that the device continued to work, but the availability of its payload was partially reduced.
