OREANDA-NEWS Japan's visa application center opened in Moscow on Thursday, the country's embassy in Russia said.
The diplomatic mission noted that the decision to open the center is due to "a sharp increase in the number of Russian tourists visiting Japan in order to improve the service for visa applicants."
Earlier it was reported that in 2025, the tourist flow to Japan doubled to a record 195 thousand people, which exceeds the pre-pandemic figures.
The Japan Visa Application Center in Moscow (JVAC) has opened at 16 Olympic Avenue, Olympic Hall, 1st floor. Documents are accepted from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 16:00.
Starting from 13:00 on February 12, visa applications can only be submitted at the visa application center and only by appointment.
The visa fee for processing documents is 970 rubles per applicant. For citizens of the Russian Federation, CIS countries and Georgia, the visa is issued free of charge.
The minimum period for reviewing an application is 4 business days. However, diplomats recommend submitting documents a few weeks before the planned trip.
As previously stated in the Russian Union of Travel Industry, the introduction of a fee for a Japanese visa will not affect the demand for destinations, as tours to Japan are quite expensive.
