OREANDA-NEWS  During his visit to Iran, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the expansion of the Russian-Iranian partnership, paying special attention to joint projects in the field of energy and logistics, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Tuesday.

Lavrov was received by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and held talks with the country's foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the report says.

"Topical aspects of the bilateral agenda were discussed in detail, with an emphasis on further building up the entire complex of the multifaceted Russian-Iranian partnership in accordance with the agreements between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and (President of Iran - IF) E. Raisi," the release says.

Special attention was paid to "the implementation of joint projects in the field of energy and logistics, including the full launch of the international transport corridor "North - South", the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

The sides also stated the need for "further coordination between the foreign ministries of Russia and Iran on regional issues, including normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the situation in Afghanistan, Syria, as well as Caspian issues."

In addition, the negotiations touched upon the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian radical movement Hamas - "the parties pointed out the need for an early ceasefire and the inadmissibility of civilian casualties."
