OREANDA-NEWS Since 2026, the minimum wage in Russia has increased to 27 thousand rubles. This was stated by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, quoted by RIA Novosti.
Speaking in the State Duma with a report on the work of the government for 2025, the head of the cabinet noted that the increase in minimum wages had reached more than 4.5 million Russians.
"We are consistently increasing the minimum wage... Since this year, it has added another fifth, and now it has reached an absolute figure of 27,000 rubles, which has affected over 4.5 million people," he explained.
By law, the minimum wage is the minimum amount that an employer must pay employees. At the same time, all surcharges for the special nature of the work or district coefficients are charged in excess of this amount. If it concerns a salary for a fully worked month, when, for example, a person works part-time, then the minimum amount of payments for him will be twice as low.
As stated by State Duma deputy Alexei Govyrin, the minimum wage is calculated taking into account the median salary for the previous year: it should be at least 48 percent of this indicator. It should also not be lower than the subsistence level of the working-age population on average in Russia.
