OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian government is considering the possibility of modernizing family mortgages, as the high level of creditworthiness of young families prevents them from thinking about future children. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova, her words are reported by TASS.

"Today, the housing that is purchased on a mortgage, it, in principle, does not allow the family to think about subsequent children. This is a very serious problem, it is a big challenge for us, which we must work on together," the official said.

According to her, the issue of family mortgage modernization is being worked out by the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Finance. Golikova stressed that square meters purchased by young families with mortgages, including at the expense of maternity capital, are insufficient.

Earlier, deputy Anatoly Aksakov said that in the near future they may start issuing family mortgages only at the place of registration.
