OREANDA-NEWS. The authorities of Bulgaria have decided to open the borders for citizens of the European Union and the Schengen zone from May 22. This was reported by the portal Dnes with reference to the order of the head of the Ministry of Health Kiril Ananiev.

The Bulgarian government closed the national borders in mid-March due to the spread of coronavirus infection. Bulgarian citizens and foreign diplomats who entered the country were forced to undergo 14-day quarantine.

Now, any resident of a European country can enter Bulgaria if he keeps two-week quarantine. Moreover, if his stay in the territory of the country does not exceed seven days, quarantine measures are not required at all. The portal notes that in fact this is a resumption of international tourism.

Earlier it was reported that Bulgaria agreed to soften the border regime with neighboring states: Greece, Serbia and Romania.
