OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the installation of a sarcophagus on the tanker Volgoneft-212, which sank in the Black Sea. She stated this during a meeting with members of the Cabinet of Ministers, the words of the head of state are quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency.

The President recalled that one vessel has already been completely dismantled, and the other is currently lying at a depth of 20 meters. "It is supposed to put a sarcophagus on top of it, so to speak. But I proceed from the fact that all these works with the second tanker will be arranged in such a way that they will not create additional difficulties in pumping out oil products and disposing of what remains at the bottom," he stressed.

Earlier in April, the Ministry of Transport concluded that the causes of the collapse of both Volgoneft tankers in the Black Sea were non-compliance with seasonal restrictions on navigation and a shortage of qualified personnel. According to the results of the investigation, the agency proposed to take measures to help prevent similar accidents in the future.
