OREANDA-NEWS  Restrictions on the operation of the mobile Internet have begun to be lifted in Crimea. This was announced by the head of the Russian region Sergey Aksenov, RIA Novosti reports.

"The relief has already started today... We have started to increase the speed of the mobile Internet and have reduced the area where restrictions occur," said the head of Crimea. Aksyonov clarified that the decision was made in coordination with the FSB of Russia.

In early August, residents of Crimea were informed that mobile Internet could be turned off in the region for a long period. The authorities of the republic explained this by strengthening security measures due to the threat of drone attacks. Before that, they warned about possible interruptions in the operation of the mobile Internet in Crimea in July.

Restrictions on mobile Internet due to threats of drone attacks began in Russia in May, before Victory Day. Disruptions were observed in dozens of regions, including Moscow. Residents of the cities could not pay for purchases in cafes and shops, and also faced difficulties when ordering taxis and groceries. The peak of blackouts was in June: restrictions were encountered in the Moscow, Leningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Rostov regions, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Kalmykia and dozens of other regions. News about the shutdown of the mobile Internet for security purposes continues to appear regularly in the media.
