OREANDA-NEWS Rospotrebnadzor will conduct control and supervisory measures to identify dietary supplements containing prohibited substances, the press service of the department told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the Izvestia newspaper reported that on some Russian Internet resources it is possible to buy dietary supplements that contain substances that are prohibited for free sale without a prescription. So, for consumers who want to lose weight, sellers offer a dietary supplement with sibutramine, a potent psychogenic stimulant, for the illegal trade of which criminal liability is provided, it is noted in the material.

"In connection with information in the media about the identification of products "Magic beans. Slimming capsules" manufactured in China, which are in circulation without state registration and contain prohibited substances, the territorial bodies of Rospotrebnadzor will carry out control and supervisory measures to identify such products and take appropriate measures," the message says.

At the same time, the department drew the attention of public organizations, first of all, to the need to inform the supervisory authorities in a timely manner about cases of detection of dietary supplements that are illegally in circulation, which will allow taking appropriate measures to seize such products.

From September 1, 2023, organizations engaged in the turnover of dietary supplements are required to be registered in the state information system for monitoring and turnover of goods and transmit data on the goods sold, the press service stressed.
Digital labeling of goods has shown its effectiveness. From March 1, 2024, it will be possible to sell only labeled dietary supplements in retail, excluding those that were imported or produced in Russia before October 1, 2023.
