OREANDA-NEWS  Western sanctions turned out to be an "invigorating shower" for Russia. This opinion was expressed by the Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov in an article for the newspaper.

He jokingly thanked the authors of the restrictions for the artificially created opportunity to really engage in advanced import substitution. "Such an invigorating morning shower helped to realize the disastrous risks of excessive dependence of supply chains on foreign partners," the head of the diplomatic mission said.

The diplomat noted that behind Washington's sanctions escapades there is a desire to secure a market advantage for itself.

Earlier, Antonov said that Washington reluctantly recognizes the professionalism of the Russian government, which has managed to stabilize the banking sector and establish production under sanctions. He also called the American unilateral sanctions imposed against Russia thoughtless. The Ambassador expressed the opinion that in this way the West hopes to make Russia suffer, but these measures will not bring the desired effect.

On March 8, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Houston, Alexander Zakharov, said that American business does not intend to leave the Russian market. According to him, the United States is trying to carefully analyze the situation with anti-Russian sanctions. "No one wants to lose such a capacious, large market," the diplomat said.
