OREANDA-NEWS  Moscow is ready to provide further support to the comprehensive development of independent Abkhazia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

"The Russian side has confirmed its readiness to provide further support to the comprehensive development of independent Abkhazia and the expansion of its international relations," a statement on the ministry's website said following talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Abkhaz Foreign Minister Oleg Bartsits.

The parties to the negotiations paid special attention to coordinating efforts within the framework of international discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia. At the same time, Lavrov and Bartsits praised "numerous joint projects in the field of security, socio-economic and humanitarian spheres."
