OREANDA-NEWS Russian tourists have become less likely to be denied Schengen visas — in 2025, the share of refusals decreased from 7.4 to 6.3 percent. This is evidenced by the data of the European Commission.
It is known that in 2025, more than 10 million entry permits were issued. This is three percent more than in 2024 (9.7 million), but still less than the 15 million visas issued in 2019, during the pre-pandemic period.
It is also reported that in 2025, Russia entered the top countries with the largest number of applications for Schengen — 679 thousand applications were submitted. China (1.8 million), Turkey (1.25 million) and India (1.15 million) were able to overtake the Russian Federation. Morocco also entered the top five with a score of 620,000 innings.
Earlier, Russians were advised to keep their boarding passes when traveling to the European Union (EU). It was noted that at European airports it may be necessary to prove the use of previous visas due to the fact that the EU has completely abandoned paper stamps in passports.
