OREANDA-NEWS In 2025, Russians' spending on trips to cafes and restaurants increased by almost a third. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Finexpertiza study.
According to analysts, the cost of meals outside the home for a family of three increased by 27 percent and increased from 2.7 to 3.5 thousand rubles per month. The increase in spending on catering was noticeably faster than the price increase: over the same period, cafe and canteen services rose in price by 12.8 percent, and restaurants by 11.8 percent.
"When large purchases such as cars, machinery, and real estate become less affordable, some of the available funds are redistributed in favor of relatively small but emotionally significant expenses such as restaurants, concerts, and other forms of recreation. That is why spending on impressions often turns out to be more stable than one would expect based solely on the dynamics of household incomes," explained Sergey Zubkov, head of Finexpertiza's tax practice.
Ilya Rusyaev, a business consultant, previously noted that rising prices have changed the format of romantic relationships in Russia. According to him, dating is becoming more expensive faster than the incomes of young people are growing. In particular, the check in restaurants increased by almost 24 percent over the year, and in bars — by about 11 percent. For fast food, the jump is estimated at 8 percent. By the end of last year, in large cities, dinner for one person reached the four thousand rubles mark.
