OREANDA-NEWS Sowing of winter crops in the Russian Federation for the harvest of 2027 is ahead of the pace of last year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, 482.7 thousand hectares have been sown to date, which is 125.3 thousand hectares more than a year earlier.

Grain harvest is also higher than last year. "To date, 27.9 million hectares have been threshed, or over 65% of the area under grain and leguminous crops. 100.5 million tons of grain were harvested, which is 12.5% higher than last year. This volume is enough to fully meet the needs of the country," the report says.

The average grain yield this year increased by 4.3% and amounts to 36 c/ha.

The positive dynamics is due, among other things, to the active use by farmers of modern technologies and breeding achievements, fertilizers and plant protection products, digital and other solutions, the agency explains.
