The admission campaign for the 2025 academic year will be held according to new requirements - universities are prohibited from increasing the number of places for paid admission, and non-core subjects are excluded for admission to engineering, natural sciences and medical specialties, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science told Interfax.

"In pursuance of the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation dated February 6, 2025, during this admission campaign, universities are prohibited from increasing the number of places for paid admission," the message says.

The press service noted that the admission campaign for the 2025/26 academic year will be held according to a new list of entrance tests - non-core subjects are excluded from the new list for admission primarily to engineering, natural sciences and medical specialties.

"For example, "foreign language" was excluded from the areas of training and specialties in the field of education "Mathematical and natural sciences", "Engineering, technology and technical sciences", "Healthcare and medical sciences", "Agriculture and agricultural sciences" - previously it could be established in all areas of training and specialties," - the press service clarified.

In addition, applicants who have graduated from general education institutions in the Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions are given the opportunity to take entrance tests in the form of a single interview.

Regional universities, with the exception of Moscow and St. Petersburg, have 428,215 places for the new academic year, or 73% of the total number of budget places.

Admission of documents to universities starts on June 20. No earlier than July 15 and no later than July 20, the acceptance of documents with the passing of university entrance tests will be completed; on July 25, the acceptance of documents from applicants based on the results of the Unified State Exam will be completed. University entrance tests will be held on June 21 - July 25. The competition lists will be published on July 27.

From August 2-3, the priority enrollment stage (target enrollment, quota enrollment, Olympiad winners) will take place; on August 6-7, the main enrollment stage will take place. Additional enrollment orders will be published on August 10-11. The additional admission within the admission control figures (CCPs) ends no later than August 29.

The ministry said that this year, during the admission campaign, most of the applicants enter the university using the Online University Admission super service. In addition to the opportunity to apply for bachelor's degrees and majors in a superservice, it is now possible to apply for a master's degree. In addition, a single mechanism has been developed for obtaining a certificate for the participants of the SVO and their children, which is necessary for admission within a separate quota, and now it can be obtained independently at Public Services.

The press service noted that this year, for enrollment to the budget, consent to enrollment is sufficient - marking on "Public Services" - without providing the original certificate.
