The businessman left the Russian budget without tens of millions of rubles

OREANDA-NEWS In Yekaterinburg, a court sentenced Boris S., the head of the Vest commercial organization, to seven years in a general regime penal colony, which caused damage to the budget in the amount of more than 51 million rubles.
The businessman was also fined 500 thousand rubles. He was found guilty under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").
According to investigators, in 2017-2018, the convict, being a subcontractor, carried out work on the repair of two overpasses across the railway on the 23rd kilometer of the route R-351 Yekaterinburg – Tyumen.
The work required so—called technological "windows" - periods of temporary closure of train traffic. Knowing the required number and cost of the "windows", the man was not going to pay for them in full. Instead, he organized the production of forged documents in which he indicated a repeatedly overestimated number of "windows": 37 for one object instead of the actual two, 76 for the second instead of one. On the basis of these fictitious documents, expenses that did not correspond to the real ones were paid.
Earlier, the Presidium of the Supreme Court of Russia considered a complaint by the government of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic (KCR) against the refusal to recover damages from the former Finance Minister of the region, Rustam Elkanov.
