OREANDA-NEWS  Israel did not plan to overthrow the government in Iran. This was stated by the Arabic-speaking representative of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Avihai Edri, RIA Novosti reports.

"Many people spread the military objectives of the Israeli operation, which were not mentioned at all in any Israeli statements, overthrowing the regime or something else," he said.

According to the IDF representative, the objectives of Israel's operation against Iran were quite clear. It was the removal of the threat from Iran's nuclear program and the attack on Iran's ballistic missile program.

Earlier it became known that Syria may sign a peace agreement with Israel in the coming months. According to sources, peace between the two countries is almost a settled issue.
