OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation is exploring the possibility of supplying animals to the Novosibirsk region, where part of the cattle population was slaughtered due to pasteurellosis.

"The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia will work out the issue of supplying the required number of livestock to the Novosibirsk region. We will look at other regions and do everything so that citizens can restore their farms," Roman Nekrasov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, said on Thursday, quoted in the agency's message. He is currently in the region.

In addition, we are considering tools that can be used as part of other support measures for small farms to help people get through this period and return to normal work. "We discussed with Governor Andrey Travnikov additional decisions that will help strengthen the support measures already taken," the official said.

Nekrasov also said that the affected private subsidiary farms are already receiving compensation for seized livestock, social benefits for families, and subsidies for livestock restoration. The region compensates for up to 50% of the cost of buying cattle.

According to him, representatives of the banking sector confirmed their readiness to provide support to the victims, primarily through preferential loans.

An emergency mode has been introduced in the Novosibirsk region due to livestock diseases. Pasteurellosis was detected in six settlements of five districts of the region, rabies - in more than 40 foci.

The Rosselkhoznadzor named abnormal frosts in Western Siberia in January as the cause of the outbreaks. The widespread occurrence of the disease was caused by a decrease in animal immunity due to stress caused by sudden temperature changes. In addition, the virus began to mutate.

On behalf of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, a working group headed by Sergei Dankvert, head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, was sent to the region. At a meeting last Wednesday, Dankvert said that the situation in the Novosibirsk region is under control. However, he called the measures taken by the regional authorities to prevent the spread of the disease insufficient.

Currently, the Rosselkhoznadzor oversees preventive work with livestock, as well as carries out measures to curb the illegal transportation of animals without veterinary accompanying documents.
