OREANDA-NEWS   The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation does not expect interruptions in the supply of silicon to consumers in the domestic market amid the suspension of the Rusal plant, the ministry told RIA Novosti.

"The suspension (conservation) of the plant's operation is due to the need to optimize the production load in the current price environment and the concentration of resources on more marginal alterations, including those focused on export markets. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia does not expect interruptions in the supply of silicon to consumers in the domestic market due to these innovations," the ministry explained.

Earlier, Rusal's press service told RIA Novosti that Russia's largest silicon plant, part of the Rusal group, will suspend production from January 1, 2026 due to a global surplus and an increase in silicon imports at dumping prices in the Russian Federation.
