OREANDA-NEWS. The proposals of the Russian Post on the repair and equipment of branches for the allocation of budget funds will be considered until October 1, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said at a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the government of the Russian Federation and the leadership of United Russia.

"Until October 1, the proposals of the Post Office for the repair and equipment of branches for the allocation of budget allocations for modernization will be considered,"- Chernyshenko said. He also added that the government, together with the Russian Post, is working to expand the list of services to citizens in Post offices in rural areas and hard-to-reach territories.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that about 30 million people live in small towns in Russia, and another 16 million live in remote settlements. "The access of such citizens to the infrastructure is limited - there is not always an MFC, a bank, a pharmacy in the settlement. Whereas 75% of the branches of the "Russian Post" are located in small settlements. 120 thousand postmen visit every address in the country at least 1 time a week. Often, a postman in rural areas performs the role of a social worker - together with a pension, he delivers food or helps to call a doctor at home," Chernyshenko explained.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that pilots were conducted in a number of regions on the issue of expanding services. In the Novosibirsk and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as in the Primorsky Territory, postmen helped identify citizens in need of social security. "They conducted questionnaires, sent these questionnaires to social protection centers, helped to collect the necessary documents for registration. They also helped to pay for housing and communal services, bought and delivered food and medicines,"- Chernyshenko said.
