OREANDA-NEWS  China should abandon the 34 percent tariffs it has imposed, as otherwise the United States will increase duties on imports from China by another 50 percent. This was stated by US President Donald Trump. He was quoted by Bloomberg.

It is emphasized that we are talking about the introduction of additional duties on goods from China. As noted in the White House, the 50 percent duty will be added to the 34 percent duty that the president imposed on all Chinese imports, as well as to the 20 percent levy that was introduced before. As a result, the total tariff for China may exceed 100 percent.

In addition, Trump said that if Beijing does not abandon its plan of retaliatory measures, "all negotiations with China regarding their requested meetings with us will be terminated!" At the same time, negotiations with other countries that have requested such a dialogue will begin immediately.

Earlier it was reported that Trump's tariff policy has already led to the collapse of both the Asian and European stock markets, as well as the American one.

However, Trump called opponents of the duties "alarmists" who are fueled by "weaklings and fools."
