OREANDA-NEWS. The Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, which is part of the structure of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, has put under arrest 44 Russian aircrafts due to flights to the peninsula. This was reported by the press service of the agency on its Telegram channel.

It was clarified that law enforcement agencies are investigating criminal cases on the fact of violations by officials of foreign airlines of the rules of international flights, as well as violations of the procedure for entering and leaving Crimea. The punishment under these articles provides for up to 15 years in prison with or without confiscation of property.

As the press service explained, since March 2014, Kiev has closed the airspace over the peninsula due to the inability to ensure and monitor flight safety. Ukraine has officially stopped operating all airports in Crimea.

In early September, a Ukrainian court arrested another 65 Russian airplanes. Thus, in total 109 liners carrying out regular passenger transportation to the peninsula were arrested due to “violation of international flight rules and Ukrainian legislation.”
