OREANDA-NEWS. The World Trade Organization (WTO) partially supported the appeal of Ukraine on a dispute with Russia on the import of railway equipment.

A source familiar with the decision told the news agency RIA Novosti that the WTO Appellate Body partially revised the verdict of the panel of arbitrators and agreed on two points with Ukraine, rejecting Russia’s arguments.

Ukraine filed a lawsuit against Russia in October 2015. Kiev stated that Moscow since 2013 unreasonably limited the supply of wagons and other components from Ukraine. In July 2018, the arbitration group fully agreed with the position of the Russian side. According to the WTO, the decline in imports was caused not by systematic restrictions imposed by Russia, but by other reasons. In August 2018, Ukraine filed an appeal against the WTO decision.
